Kanto Plains HS Boys Basketball:
The varsity boys basketball team competed for the first time in a 3 day international tournament in Tokyo hosted at ASIJ. After several years of success in KISAC, this was a serious challenge for the players and coaches. The boys competed extremely hard from start to finish and it was a terrific learning experience for them to play against some of the best basketball teams in Asia. Several opposing coaches and referees commented on the strong mental toughness and high intensity level demonstrated by our boys despite playing against superior competition. Sophomore Han Choi and freshman Robin Lee were the leading scorers for KISJ in the tournament. The team is focused on learning from this experience and improving as a unit as they head into the KISAC tournament in late February. MS Girls Volleyball: The middle school girls volleyball teams played in the GEC Jamboree this weekend. This was a fast paced day of friendly competition with the goals of preparing for KISAC, improving volleyball skills and getting as many touches on the balls as possible. With multiple 25 minute games throughout the day, there was a strong opportunity for growth. KISJ entered 4 girls teams. Each team and player grew tremendously, with all teams putting together set plays by the end of the day. The coaches were so very proud of the dedication to volleyball and improvement we witnessed. MS Boys Volleyball: On January 26th our MS boys volleyball teams participated in the GEC's first ever Middle School Volleyball Jamboree! There were teams from SJA, and NLCS participating with our 3 teams from KISJ. Our goals for the weekend were to communicate and learn positions. The KISJ players did exceptionally well with these goals and look forward to build on their newly found knowledge throughout the rest of the season in preparation for their KISAC tournament on February 22-23 to be held at KISJ.
